For assignment 1B, we were assigned a natural setting to discuss in a group of 5 people. The task requires are to talk about scientific facts, characteristics, adaptations, positive/negative impacts of human activities as well as ideas to overcome the issues. The natural setting we get was the Tropical Rainforest which are rainforests that occur in areas of tropical rainforest climate in which there is no dry season.
Tropical rainforests cover only about 7% of the Earth's surface. Tropical rainforests contain more species of plants and animals than any other habitat. As much as 50 percent of all the Earth’s species live in tropical rainforests.
Types: Lowland Equatorial Evergreen Rainforests, Moist Seasonal Tropical Rainforest, Montane Tropical Rainforest, and Flooded Tropical Rainforest

Weekly Progress
WEEK 1: As the group leader, I created a Whatsapp group. We then settled on a time to have our first discussion. After our first discussion, we decided to use the Amazon Rainforest as our main topic of discussion. The survival of endangered species- Poison Dart Frog in Amazon Rainforest is our sub-topic. We then proceed to do the research based on our main topic and sub-topic. I create a page on google docs for my teammates to put all the research and information in it so that we can keep track of our own progress.
WEEK 2: After we gather up all the research, we then started to discuss the scene, the storyboards, the setting, the platform we wanted to use to record our video, and each of our roles. After that, Jonathan Ferng and Hans started to write the script while the rest of us started to arrange and highlight all the research and useful point in google docs. For the roleplay ideas, we decided to do a breaking news style. Two reporters talk about the tropical rainforest. The reporters set up an interview with two tribesmen and a special invited guest, a zoologist. We decided to use zoom to record the video as we can't meet each other in person.
WEEK 3: We used the same green screen on zoom and record our own video. They will then send their video for me and I will edit and combine all the videos into one. It took a long time for me to edit all the video as it was my first time using software to edit video. It took a lot of my time in editing the animation and adding in some visual components in order to make our video interesting. After I did the editing of the video and saved it to my google drive, I just realized that I forget to put the soundtrack into our video. So, I have no choice but to re-edit the video.
WEEK 4: After I have done the video, Hans continues by adding subtitles to support our video. For the report, my groupmates went and finalized it so that it is neat and clean.
Lastly, I am glad that we managed to submit our assignment right on time and it is also a memorable experience for me when doing the assignment together with my teammates.
Reflection
1. Communication Skills
Honestly, I am a shy person when interacting with people who I first met. So, it’s a challenge for me when communicating with the group members. I will felt awkward and shy when meeting them. It was hard for me to communicate with my group members at first. However, because of my cheerful group members, I felt comfortable to be with them. We all try to speak out and share our ideas and discuss what we should do and what to improve in our assignment.
2. Interpersonal Skills
I took the initiative to be the leader of my group in this assignment. I learned that it is important to listen to other people's opinion, when the group is having troubles, I am responsible to help out and make final decisions for them after hearing out each of their personal thoughts. We are able to discuss and solve the problem while having issues with the assignment.
3. Digital Literacy
Due to Covid-19, our group members are staying in different places. In this way, our group had to create the video and discuss it online, without having to see each other in person and this also slowed down our progress. We find a way to solve the problem that is to record our video by using the zoom app. Our group utilized various platforms to communicate and discuss the assignment, such as Whatsapp calls and zoom calls. It is my first time being a video editor and it is a challenging part for me and this makes me struggled as I didn't know where should I need to start. Hopefully, with the help of technologies, I downloaded a software app from the internet, and the app, Wondershare Filmora 9, helps me a lot in the editing part. I have learned some editing skills from it.
